The most revolutionary scientific advances are enabled by the development of new technologies. As we deepen our understanding of nature — from the earliest moments of the universe to cosmic events elucidated by gravitational waves and the fundamental properties of dark matter and neutrinos — new instruments are inevitably needed to dig deeper into these mysteries.

The CECI Workshop on Detector Science brings together physicists across fields to discuss the next generation of enabling technologies. By discussing instrumentation needs and developments across a broad range of scientific goals, we hope to identify the cross-disciplinary technological needs and synergies. Join us at UC Riverside to explore advances in instrumentation needed to advance fundamental science.

Logistics

Meeting Room and Parking

The meeting will be held in the UC Riverside Botanic Garden Meeting Room. The most convenient parking location is Lot 13. The Botanic Garden Meeting Room is approximately an 11 minute walk south of Lot 13.

We plan to cover parking expenses for all presenters. An email will be sent to presenters a few days before the meeting with instructions to enter their vehicle information to register their car for parking in Lot 13. People covering their own parking expenses can pay for a day pass using the ParkMobile app. If you have any questions or need the vehicle registration link earlier, please contact the organizing committee.

Airport

If you fly, we recommend flying into the Ontario International Airport (ONT). You can then take an Uber/Lyft to Riverside. The driving time is approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Other options include the Orange County John Wayne Airport (SNA) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). If flying into LAX, we recommend arriving well before or after the evening rush hour, as the driving time from LAX to Riverside can reach 2-3 hours at peak times.

If you plan to stay overnight in Riverside, we recommend the following hotels. All are located in downtown Riverside (3 miles from UC Riverside) and require a car or short Uber/Lyft ride to reach the campus.
